Show Notes
‘Why Go’ includes a ‘No Attention’ (Sex Pistols song) tag in it. The band seems to related a lot of onstage banter to being in Texas. ‘Deep’ begins with Ed saying, “Deep … deep in the heart of Texas.” He preludes ‘Jeremy’ with, “You might know this story. The ‘Footsteps’ tag in ‘Daughter’ is particularly haunting. Midway through the show, Ed sarcastically addresses the crowd: “How does it feel to be rich?Actually, maybe you should ask us. I’ll give my money away, I don’t want to be rich.I just have a feeling it might change you. It might turn you into a fucking asshole.” And there is this very funny exchange:
Ed: OK, Mike has something to say
Mike (hoarse): I lost my fucking voice
[crowd laughs]
Ed: Jeff has something to say
Jeff: Someone told me that Meatloaf roomed with someone (at U Texas) … Glenn Frey? Jesus.
Ed: At this school, that’s nothing tobe proud of. Some loud fan:Fuck Glenn Frey!
[crowd laughs]
Ed: Fuck my mother, too. 1-2-3-4 …
